Amritsar, July 30 — A 25-year-old man was shot dead and two others injured late Tuesday night when a junior engineer with the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) allegedly opened fire during a parking dispute in the Ganda Singh Wala area on Majitha Road.

The deceased, Vicky, a resident of the same locality, was reportedly riding pillion on a motorcycle when he was hit in the chest. He died on the spot. A vegetable vendor was also wounded in the leg, and another person sustained injuries.

According to police, the violence erupted when the vendor knocked on the door of the accused, Vikram alias Vicky, asking him to move his improperly parked car. An argument followed, during which Vikram allegedly shouted from his balcony before coming down with his licensed pistol and firing at people gathered nearby.

“We have registered a case and are conducting raids to arrest the accused,” said Assistant Commissioner of Police (North) Rishabh Bhola, who visited the spot along with Sadar SHO Harsandeep Singh.

Following the incident, the accused and his family fled. Police have launched a search operation, while protests broke out in the area as residents demanded Vikram’s immediate arrest.

Authorities assured locals of swift action. An FIR has been registered, and the investigation is ongoing.
