SAS Nagar, March 19, 2025 — Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal warned that no one would be spared for preparing or selling food under unhygienic conditions, emphasizing the risk to public health.

“Those endangering human lives with such unhealthy practices will face strict action,” Mittal said after a raid at Mataur by food safety, health, and Municipal Corporation (MC) teams. Several food samples, including vegetables, were collected for testing.

She clarified that the meat piece recovered, wrongly rumored to be dog meat, is under analysis by Animal Husbandry experts. “I urge people not to spread rumors before the official report,” she added.

Mittal ordered FIRs against the accused under Sections 272 and 274 of BNS. SSP Deepak Pareek confirmed that the district police had lodged an FIR, calling it a “grave human negligence.”

Mittal directed health, food safety, and MC teams to regularly inspect food vendors to maintain hygiene. “Teams must check licenses and issue hefty challans in case of negligence,” she instructed.

District Health Officer Dr. Amrit Warring revealed that six samples were collected, and challans were issued for violating Section 63 of the Food Safety and Standards Act. “We will launch an extensive campaign to ensure food hygiene. Violators will face strict legal action,” he said.

Mittal also urged Municipal Commissioner Parminder Pal Singh to crack down on unauthorized food carts and illegal meat slaughtering.
