New Delhi, Nov 3: Air quality levels across the National Capital Region (NCR) remained in the ‘severe’ to ‘hazardous’ categories on Tuesday, prompting medical experts to issue urgent warnings regarding heightened health risks.
Healthcare professionals declared that prolonged exposure to the prevailing pollution levels can trigger severe asthma attacks, persistent coughing, wheezing, and acute breathlessness among residents, particularly children, the elderly, and individuals with underlying conditions.
In addition to respiratory complications, doctors maintained that high particulate levels are causing widespread ocular and dermatological issues, including red, watery, and itchy eyes, along with skin irritation, dryness, and allergic rashes.
Public health advisories recommend limiting outdoor physical activities during peak pollution hours, utilizing air purifiers indoors where possible, and taking preventive medical measures to mitigate health risks associated with the hazardous air quality.
