Patna, April 7: With temperatures nearing 40 degrees Celsius across Bihar, the state government has revised school timings to protect students from the intensifying heat wave.

Beginning April 7, all primary and secondary schools will operate from 6:00 am to 12:30 pm, according to a directive issued by the education department.

The new schedule, effective from Monday, aims to reduce children’s exposure to extreme daytime heat. Morning prayers will conclude by 7:00 am, after which classes will begin. Each session will last 45 minutes, and a 45-minute lunch break will be held at 9:00 am.

“This arrangement ensures students are not exposed to the hottest hours of the day,” said an official from the education department. “The change prioritizes both safety and comfort, particularly in regions where high temperatures are already a concern.”

The revised timetable will remain in place until further notice, depending on weather conditions.
