BOSTON, April 20 — Senior Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, landed at Boston Logan International Airport on Saturday (local time) for a multi-day visit to the United States, where he is scheduled to participate in academic and community engagements.
Gandhi is set to visit Brown University in Rhode Island on April 21 and 22, where he will interact with faculty members and students. According to the Congress, the visit includes a talk at the university and a series of discussions on global affairs and democratic values.
Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera earlier confirmed the visit in a post on X: “Former Congress President Mr. Rahul Gandhi will be visiting Brown University in Rhode Island, United States, on the 21st and 22nd of April. He will give a talk and interact with faculty members and students.”
In addition to his academic engagement, Gandhi is expected to meet with members of the Indian Overseas Congress (IOC), as well as representatives of the Indian diaspora community across the region.
This marks Rahul Gandhi’s second visit to the US in recent months. In September 2024, he undertook a three-day tour, during which he visited Dallas and Washington, D.C. In Dallas, he interacted with students and teachers at the University of Texas, followed by a session with faculty and students at Georgetown University in the US capital.
That tour was Gandhi’s first trip to the US since assuming the role of Leader of Opposition. His recent engagements abroad are seen as part of a broader effort to connect with academic institutions and Indian-origin communities globally.
