Karnataka, April 20: Former Karnataka Director General of Police Om Prakash was found dead under mysterious circumstances at his Bengaluru residence in HSR Layout on Sunday, police officials told PTI.
The 68-year-old retired IPS officer, who served as DGP from March 1, 2015, was discovered lying in a pool of blood on the ground floor of his three-storey home. Officials confirmed injuries on his body, prompting suspicions of murder and possible involvement of a close family member.
His wife, Pallavi, alerted the police about the incident. Senior officers reached the spot soon after and launched an investigation. The former DGP’s body has been sent for postmortem.
Police are now questioning his wife and daughter as part of the inquiry. PTI reported that Prakash had recently confided to associates about threats to his life.
A 1981 batch IPS officer from Champaran, Bihar, Om Prakash held an MSc in Geology and had served in several key positions before retiring from the force.
