New Delhi, April 28 — The Supreme Court on Monday permitted podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia to retrieve his passport, enabling him to travel abroad for work purposes.
A bench comprising Justices Surya Kant and N Kotiswar Singh relaxed the earlier restriction after the Assam and Maharashtra governments informed the court that investigations against Allahbadia had concluded.
“We see no impediment now,” the bench said, directing Allahbadia to approach the Maharashtra Cyber Police Bureau to collect his passport.
Senior advocate Abhinav Chandrachud, representing Allahbadia, requested the court to consolidate multiple FIRs filed against his client into a single proceeding.
The bench responded that it would consider the request during the next hearing.
The court had earlier, on February 18, protected Allahbadia from arrest in connection with several FIRs linked to remarks he made on comedian Samay Raina’s YouTube show “India’s Got Latent.”
As part of those protections, Allahbadia had been ordered to surrender his passport to the nodal cyber police station in Thane.
On March 3, the Supreme Court allowed Allahbadia to resume his popular podcast, “The Ranveer Show,” with a caution to maintain “morality and decency” and ensure the content remained suitable for audiences of all age groups.
Known to his followers as BeerBiceps, Allahbadia faced police cases over comments related to parents and sex made during his appearance on Raina’s show.
