ZIRAKPUR, May 20 — Jalandhar Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) and Zirakpur police arrested two murder suspects on Monday evening after an exchange of gunfire at Metro Town Society in Peer Muchalla.

The suspects, both wanted in a May 10 murder case in Jalandhar, were injured in their legs during retaliatory firing by the police after they opened fire when cornered. “Both were taken into custody and shifted to a hospital for treatment,” said SP (Detective) Gaurav Jindal. “They have a known criminal history, and we recovered weapons and other incriminating evidence from the scene.”

The operation sparked panic among residents of the densely populated housing complex, who were startled by the sound of gunshots and the sudden arrival of heavy police deployment.

Authorities urged the public to share any additional information that could aid the ongoing investigation. “This was a sensitive and high-risk operation, and we request citizens to come forward with any relevant details,” Jindal added.
