Gurdaspur, August 27 — Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has deployed the state government’s helicopter for flood relief operations, saying it will be used to evacuate stranded residents and deliver essential supplies in marooned villages.

“The people gave us this helicopter with their overwhelming mandate, and now it is being used for their service in this hour of crisis,” Mann said while touring flood-affected areas of Gurdaspur district.

The Chief Minister said he would now travel by road for his official visits so that the helicopter remains dedicated to flood relief.

He also assured that a special girdawari (damage assessment) was underway to calculate losses and ensure fair compensation.

“Every single loss—of crops, cattle, or houses—will be covered, and people will be compensated down to the last penny,” Mann said.

He added that Cabinet ministers, MLAs, Deputy Commissioners, and SSPs have been stationed in affected districts to supervise relief measures.

“Our government is duty bound to reach the last person in need,” Mann said, vowing that no stone would be left unturned in providing aid.

After touring the worst-affected villages and interacting with locals, Mann said many families, including children, were stranded in their homes without food or essentials due to rising waters.
