Jaipur, November 3 — At least twelve people were killed and as many injured when a speeding dumper truck ploughed into several vehicles in Jaipur’s Harmada area on Monday afternoon, officials said.

The dumper, which was empty and coming from Road No. 14, rammed multiple vehicles in a chain collision near Loha Mandi, covering nearly 300 metres before coming to a halt.

“Twelve people died in the accident and as many have been injured,” Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Soni said. He added that some of the injured were in a critical condition and had been shifted to the SMS Hospital’s trauma centre.

Police teams rushed to the spot, diverted traffic and began clearing damaged vehicles from the highway. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals.

This is the second major road accident in Rajasthan in two days. On Sunday evening, fifteen people died and two were injured when a tempo traveller rammed a stationary trailer truck in Phalodi area.
