Amritsar, 03 December 2025: A man was shot dead in broad daylight in Mangasarai village under the Kathunangal police station limits on Tuesday, with police suspecting an old enmity and a land dispute behind the attack.
Jaspal Singh, son of a former sarpanch and the village numberdar, was supervising work in his fields when unidentified assailants arrived and opened fire, killing him on the spot, police said.
A team from Kathunangal police station reached the site soon after the incident, sealed the area and began an investigation. Officers said preliminary findings point to an ongoing land dispute in the village, though all angles are being examined.
Police registered FIR No. 169 on the statement of the victim’s brother, Manjinder Singh, and have begun questioning several suspects. Officials said efforts are underway to identify and arrest the attackers at the earliest.
