CHANDIGARH, Dec. 11 — Chandigarh Police made the first arrest in the Sector 26 murder of Inderpreet Singh, alias Parry, detaining a 40-year-old Kharar resident accused of supplying the stolen Hyundai Creta used by the killers.

The suspect, identified as Rahul, was picked up late Tuesday night by the district crime cell. Police said he has a history of petty crime and drug addiction and is believed to have acted as a facilitator. “Rahul’s role appears limited to logistics, but he is a crucial link in tracing the shooters,” a senior official said.

Investigators said Rahul admitted during questioning that he handed over the stolen white Creta to the assailants in Ludhiana on November 29, two days before the killing. The same vehicle was seen trailing Parry’s Kia Seltos near the Timber Market before the attackers opened fire.

Police said the Creta was stolen from Kota, Rajasthan, in 2024 and had passed through multiple hands in the illegal vehicle trade before reaching Rahul. The vehicle, carrying forged number plates and a tampered chassis number, was recovered from Mansa Devi Complex, Panchkula, a day after the murder.

Officers believe the killers procured the Creta through a chain of intermediaries to avoid leaving a trail. One of the suspected shooters is believed to be Piyush Piplani, a close aide of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and an absconder in the Sonu Nolta murder case.

Parry was shot dead on December 1 shortly after leaving a night club in Sector 26. He was seated in his Kia Seltos when the man beside him fired at point-blank range. Moments later, the Creta pulled up behind the SUV and its occupants fired additional rounds before fleeing toward Panchkula. Parry died at the hospital from multiple bullet wounds.
