Chandigarh, Jan 3: A Chandigarh woman has gone viral after turning the city’s famous grid layout into a running route shaped like the number “26” to mark the start of 2026.
Asmita, a city resident and X user, completed a 26.26-kilometer run across multiple sectors on New Year’s Day, carefully planning her route so that it formed the numerals “26” when mapped digitally. The run began near RBI Park and passed through several parts of the city, requiring strict pacing and navigation to maintain the shape.
Sharing the final route map online, Asmita described the run as part of a personal New Year tradition. Her post crossed 100,000 views within hours, drawing praise for both endurance and creativity.
“Only Chandigarh residents have this privilege. Can’t imagine this anywhere else in India,” one user wrote in response.
Another commented, “Chandigarh maps are next level and you are next level for drawing it!!”
Several users pointed out that the city’s straight roads and sector-based planning made the unusual run possible. Many said such a route would be nearly impossible to execute in more congested or irregularly planned Indian cities.
A third user joked, “I ran out of excuses by 2 km, you ran out of city at 26.”
Chandigarh, designed by French architect Le Corbusier, is known for its orderly layout and wide roads—features that residents say continue to shape how people interact with the city, even decades later.
