Mohali, Jan 28: A young man was killed on Wednesday afternoon following a brazen shooting incident directly outside the main gate of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) office in Mohali. The victim, identified as Gurpreet Singh, died at the scene after being struck by three bullets during the 2:30 pm attack.
Witnesses reported that two unidentified individuals on a motorcycle approached Gurpreet as he stood near the entrance of the high-security zone. The assailants discharged their weapons and immediately fled the area before security personnel could intervene.
Senior police officials arrived at the location shortly after the gunfire to oversee the cordoning off of the premises. Investigative teams have since secured the perimeter to preserve forensic evidence.
“CCTV footage from the surrounding area was seized,” local authorities mentioned, noting that the digital records are being scanned to identify the escape route used by the gunmen.
The body of the deceased was transported to the Mohali Civil Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Law enforcement agencies noted that security has been heightened around the administrative complex while specialized units work to track the suspects.
