Chandigarh, Feb 14: Medanta – The Medicity, Gurugram, has expanded its medical footprint into the City Beautiful with the inauguration of a dedicated Outpatient Department (OPD) centre. The new complex is designed to provide residents of Chandigarh, Punjab, and Haryana with direct access to super-specialist consultations, reducing the need for patients to travel to the main hospital in Gurugram for expert advice and treatment planning.
The facility was formally inaugurated by Dr. Rajneesh Kapoor, Chairman of Interventional Cardiology at Medanta Hospital, Gurugram. Dr. Kapoor, a recipient of the Punjab Rattan Award, noted during the launch that the centre aims to bridge the gap between high-end medical expertise and regional accessibility. He mentioned that the OPD will serve as a vital link for ailing patients seeking relief through advanced treatment options.
During the press interaction, Dr. Kapoor discussed the life-saving potential of specialized interventions now available for consultation at the new site. “By means of this OPD, there will be increased dissemination of super-specialized medical treatments that can be life-saving to thousands of sick patients,” Dr. Kapoor directly said. He noted that his department specifically focuses on non-surgical treatments for structural heart diseases, such as aortic and mitral valve stenosis. These catheter-based procedures offer a safer alternative for patients who might otherwise face a high risk of sudden cardiac death if their conditions remain untreated.
The Chandigarh OPD complex is set to function as a multi-disciplinary hub, featuring experts from a wide array of fields including Oncology, Neurosciences, Gastrosciences, and Orthopedics. Specialized care units for Renal Care, Bone Marrow, Liver, and Lung Transplants, as well as Chest Surgery and Gynaecology, will also be represented. This collaborative model follows the “patient-first” philosophy established by Medanta’s Founder and CMD, Dr. Naresh Trehan.
Dr. Kapoor added that the teams of super-specialists will work together to customize treatment plans for every individual. “Medanta’s approach allows teams to collaborate seamlessly and arrive at the best possible treatment, in line with our philosophy Har Ek Jaan Anmol,” he noted, reiterating that the organization views every life as invaluable.
