Chandigarh, Feb 22: The Industrial Area police have arrested a man for allegedly murdering his neighbor in broad daylight at Daria on Saturday. The suspect, identified as Vinod, was reportedly discovered inside the victim’s home following a violent confrontation that occurred while she was alone.
The incident came to light when the victim’s husband, Pardeep Mohan, returned home from his welding shop for lunch at approximately 1:20 p.m. According to the police complaint, Pardeep heard his wife, Seema, screaming and found both doors to their room bolted from the inside. With the assistance of neighbors, he forced open the rear entrance, where he allegedly observed the suspect standing over his wife with a knife.
Seema was discovered on the floor with multiple stab wounds and was rushed to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH-32). Doctors declared the 38-year-old dead on arrival. Sub-Inspector Ravdeep Singh stated that the police have recorded the husband’s statement and registered a case under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the accused and the victim had been involved in a prior dispute. Pardeep maintained that Vinod had quarreled with his wife on a previous occasion. Authorities asserted that the suspect was apprehended shortly after the crime and the weapon used in the attack is being processed as evidence.
