Bhilal, Feb 24: At an event organized by the Sikh Youth Service Committee at Gurudwara Baba Deep Singh Shaheed in Supela, Bhilai, seven individuals re-embraced the Sikh faith. The ceremony, held on Tuesday, was attended by representatives from various Gurdwara management committees across the city and marked a formal return for those who had previously converted to other religions.

The organizers stated that the individuals had changed their faith in the past due to personal family circumstances or outside influences. Following an interest in the principles of Sikhi and its emphasis on humanitarian service, the group expressed a desire to return to their original religious roots.

Inderjit Singh Chhotu, President of the Sikh Youth Service Committee and the Sarv Samaj Kalyan Seva Committee, led the proceedings alongside Jasveer Singh Chahal, President of the Chhattisgarh Sikh Panchayat. Chhotu declared that the organization is committed to facilitating the return of others who have converted. He affirmed that the Sikh community would extend all necessary assistance to those wishing to return, tailored to their specific needs and backgrounds.

The formal process included the recitation of Sri Anand Sahib and the performance of Ardas. Surinder Singh Dardi, the Granthi Singh of the Gurdwara, conducted the homecoming rites and presented the seven individuals with ‘Siropas,’ the traditional Sikh robes of honor.

General Secretary Gurnam Singh and Treasurer Malkeet Singh maintained that this initiative falls under the broader ‘Manav Seva, Madhav Seva’ mission, which equates service to humanity with service to God. Local dignitaries and representatives from various social organizations were present to observe the ceremony and praised the efforts of the organizing committee.

Prominent community members in attendance included Palwinder Singh Randhawa, Gurmeet Singh Gandhi, and Baljinder Singh Kaler, among others. The management committees of Bhilai expressed their support for the initiative, noting the importance of welcoming community members back into the fold.
