The International Cricket Council has deferred its scheduled three-day governance meeting in Doha, Qatar, citing the escalating conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran.

Originally set to take place from March 25 to 27, the gathering of global cricket leadership is now expected to be held next month at an alternate location within the same continent.

A formal communication regarding the delay was dispatched to member nations on Saturday, falling just one day before the T20 World Cup final between India and New Zealand in Ahmedabad.

The session was intended to bring together ICC Board Directors, Chief Executives, and committee members to address the strategic trajectory of the sport.

A source familiar with the matter asserted that the shift in the calendar was a necessary response to the current geopolitical climate.

The ICC previously noted that Doha was selected as the host city to recognize the significant strides made by the Qatar Cricket Association and the local Olympic Committee.

In an earlier statement, the governing body maintained that its collaboration with Qatari officials has fueled remarkable progress for the sport in recent years.

Despite the setback, officials declared that the meeting remains a critical part of the organization’s ongoing governance calendar and provides an essential opportunity to deliberate over matters pertaining to the present and future of the global game.
