Barnala, March 29: A structural collapse in Pharwahi village claimed the lives of three workers early Sunday morning, while rescue teams continue to search for a fourth individual feared trapped beneath the rubble. The incident occurred during a repair project aimed at restoring a home that had been severely weakened by environmental damage.
The property, owned by a resident identified as Vishal, had reportedly sustained deep structural issues after sewage water seeped into the walls. This moisture caused one side of the building to sink and lose stability. The owner had contracted Ranjit, a specialist from Moga, to lift and stabilize the residence.
Police officials stated that four laborers—Bobby Singh, Prince, Gurjit Singh, and another unidentified youth—were inside the building when the disaster struck. The workers, all residents of Moga, were reportedly sleeping in the house at the time of the collapse.
In the early hours of the morning, a damaged wall suddenly gave way, causing the entire structure to cave in. Three of the men died on the spot after being buried under the debris. Authorities affirmed that the bodies have been transported to the Civil Hospital in Barnala for post-mortem examinations.
Emergency teams remain at the site in Pharwahi village, working to locate the remaining laborer. Local officials maintained that the investigation into the collapse is ongoing as they assess the safety of the surrounding area.
