New Delhi/Bengaluru, March 30: Delhi Police officials on Monday confirmed the arrest of a 47-year-old man from Mysuru, Karnataka, in connection with a massive campaign of hoax bomb threats targeting schools, high courts, and government offices nationwide. The suspect, identified as Srinivas Louis, was apprehended Saturday at his rented residence during a coordinated operation between Delhi Police and local authorities.
The arrest follows a series of alarming messages directed at the Delhi High Court, the State Assembly, and various educational institutions. Investigators found that Louis, a postgraduate originally from Bengaluru, is currently unemployed and resides with his mother, who is a retired government staff member.
Preliminary investigation suggests that he may have been under mental stress, a senior officer stated. During initial interrogation, the accused confessed to sending over 1,100 threat messages across the country via emails and other communication platforms.
Law enforcement agencies in several states had already registered multiple FIRs as the threats caused widespread disruption to public services and educational schedules. Officials noted that the suspect used various digital platforms to distribute the hoaxes, leading to a complex multi-state investigation.
The suspect remains in custody as authorities continue to examine the electronic devices used in the commission of these acts.
