FATEHGARH SAHIB, March 30 — AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Saturday inaugurated 109 new Aam Aadmi Clinics, bringing the state’s total to 990 facilities within four years. The expansion is part of a broader strategy to provide free, accessible healthcare, with officials declaring that another 400 clinics are scheduled to open in the near future.
The healthcare model currently offers 107 essential medicines and 47 diagnostic tests at no cost to patients. During a large gathering in Fatehgarh Sahib, Kejriwal stated that the network has already recorded 5 crore OPD visits, noting that the system is closely monitored by the Chief Minister’s Office to ensure no shortage of doctors or supplies. He maintained that while past administrations failed to establish such a network, the current government has prioritized the medical needs of the poor.
Addressing recent legal challenges, Kejriwal affirmed that the courts found no evidence against him in various cases, which he described as attempts to halt his party’s “politics of work.” He asserted that his “kattar imaandari” (staunch honesty) had been upheld. The AAP leader also cautioned residents that voting for the opposition could result in the rollback of welfare services, similar to recent trends observed in Delhi.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann noted that the government’s agenda remains focused on education, health, and farmer welfare. He maintained that the administration has fulfilled its major guarantees, including providing free electricity to 90 percent of households and securing jobs for over 65,000 youth without corruption. Mann also mentioned that the “Mukh Mantri Sehat Bima Yojana” now allows citizens to access treatment at premier private hospitals, ensuring that high-quality care is not reserved solely for the elite.
