Universal Group of Institutions hosts faculty program on nursing research

Educators and students gain expertise in scientific writing and data analysis

LALRU, MAY 6 — The Universal Institute of Nursing, a constituent of the Universal Group of Institutions (UGI), conducted a comprehensive one-day Faculty Development Program (FDP) focused on “Research Methodology and Scientific Writing in Nursing” on Tuesday. The initiative was designed to strengthen the research capabilities and academic writing proficiency of both nursing faculty and students.

The session opened with an address by Ms. Poonam Malhotra, Vice Principal of the Universal Institute of Nursing, who noted the critical role research plays in establishing evidence-based nursing practices. The program featured technical sessions led by a panel of experts, including Ms. Mandeep Kaur, CEO of Building Nursing, Ontario, and Dr. Sukhdeep Kaur of Gian Sagar College of Nursing. The curriculum covered essential academic pillars such as research design, sampling methods, and the use of SPSS for statistical analysis, alongside a focus on publication ethics.

UGI Chairman Dr. Gurpreet Singh affirmed that research and innovation serve as the foundation of quality education. He stated that such programs are vital for providing educators with the necessary tools to contribute to the global healthcare sector. Echoing this sentiment, Executive Director Mrs. Kanwaljit Kaur maintained that advancing the research skills of educators has a direct, positive influence on both the quality of student learning and subsequent patient care.

“Empowering educators with advanced research skills directly impacts the quality of learning and patient care,” Mrs. Kaur stated. She affirmed the institution’s commitment to maintaining a professional environment centered on continuous academic growth.

The day concluded with a valedictory session where participants underwent skill evaluations and received certificates. Dr. Shilpa, HOD and Associate Professor at the Universal Institute of Nursing, delivered the formal vote of thanks, asserting that the program successfully equipped attendees with the competencies required for modern nursing education.
