CHANDIGARH, MAY 28 — The India Meteorological Department on Thursday issued urgent multi-day precipitation alerts across several northern and eastern districts of Haryana, projecting a major weather transition caused by an arriving western disturbance.

The department placed the northern districts of Ambala, Panchkula, and Yamunanagar under a red alert for Friday, May 29. Meteorologists stated that rain will impact between 75 and 100 percent of the observation stations in those specific areas. Concurrently, moderate wet spells will expand into Kurukshetra, Karnal, Kaithal, Panipat, and Sonepat, covering approximately half to three-quarters of those regions.

Weather officials noted that the precipitation will be accompanied by lightning and gusty winds from May 29 through May 30. The system is expected to expand geographically on Saturday, triggering an orange alert across nearly the entire state, with the exception of Sirsa and Fatehabad.

“As a western disturbance is hitting the region on Thursday, the Indian Meteorological Department has predicted rains at a few places in Panchkula, Ambala, Yamunanagar, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Karnal and Panipat,” an IMD forecaster stated during the daily briefing.

Regional datasets indicate that the weather system will begin losing strength by the end of the month. For Sunday, May 31, forecasters noted that rain will become highly localized, limited to isolated areas within just five districts: Panchkula, Yamunanagar, Ambala, Kurukshetra, and Karnal.

The extended outlook indicates a swift conclusion to the wet spell. Meteorologists stated that dry conditions will return to all districts across Haryana by June 1, bringing an end to the four-day atmospheric disruption.
