Lucknow, June 14: Linking cattle rearing directly with rural prosperity and clean energy remains a key focus for the state administration, with extensive preparations now underway to install mini biogas plants in more than one lakh households across villages in Uttar Pradesh. The newly prepared initiative aims to foster self-reliance in the energy sector while significantly increasing household savings for families.

The initiative focuses on enabling rural residents to set up these domestic units at a manageable cost, effectively reducing their regular expenditure on standard cooking gas cylinder refills.

According to the plan prepared by the Uttar Pradesh Gauseva Commission, the mini biogas plants can be set up at an estimated cost ranging from ₹25,000 to ₹50,000. The units will produce clean fuel utilizing organic waste and cattle droppings, while simultaneously generating high-quality organic manure for agricultural use, the commission declared. This approach is intended to provide farmers with chemical-free fertilizer, lowering the overall input costs of farming.

By combining clean energy production with rural self-reliance, the scheme is expected to give a fresh momentum to the local economy and create steady, additional sources of utility for cattle rearers.

The commission has finalized a formal proposal for the rollout of the initiative. Commission Chairman Shyam Bihari Gupta affirmed that once the scheme is fully implemented, the overall consumption of commercial cooking gas in rural kitchens will decline, resulting in notable savings for daily household expenses.

The initiative is designed to establish a sustainable model where resource conservation, clean energy, and rural economic independence progress together, the commission chairman maintained.
