Varanasi, June 14: Connecting innovation and research directly with nation building and public welfare remains essential for the country’s development, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath asserted while speaking at a prominent science gathering. The state leader noted that India possesses immense potential across various sectors, including agriculture, medicine, Ayurveda, enterprise, and traditional knowledge.
Addressing the inaugural session of the Seventh National Convention of Vijnana Bharati in Varanasi, the Chief Minister affirmed that no research should remain confined to laboratories alone. Rather, its core objective must focus on economic advancement, community welfare, and establishing a stronger nation.
The integration of traditional Indian knowledge systems with modern science, research, and innovation will play a crucial role in transforming the country into a developed nation and providing it with a fresh identity on the global stage, the Chief Minister declared. While the effective journey of modern science spans approximately 400 to 500 years, India has stood as a centre of knowledge, science, and innovation for thousands of years.
The Chief Minister maintained that historical models of self-reliance remain highly relevant today. Traditional systems of natural farming, animal husbandry, and local craftsmanship historically reflected deep scientific thinking, serving as pillars of the economy before an over-reliance on chemical inputs distanced society from these sustainable roots.
To further encourage progress, the Chief Minister suggested that future science conventions should feature innovation exhibitions and competitions to recognize outstanding researchers. Closer coordination with the Ministries of Science and Technology and other administrative departments would also ensure that young innovators receive proper opportunities to present their work before relevant public platforms.
Several prominent dignitaries, including Vijnana Bharati All India Patron Officer Sunil Ambekar, National President Dr. Shekhar C. Mande, Banaras Hindu University Vice-Chancellor Professor Ajit Chaturvedi, and IIT BHU Director Professor Amit Patra, attended the session.
