NEW DELHI, July 24 — The Union Cabinet convened on Friday to review proposed statutory amendments aimed at curbing examination malpractices and introducing fast-track judicial mechanisms for paper leak inquiries. The legislative measure follows ongoing consultations with student delegations and administrative stakeholders seeking systemic assurances.
“The cabinet will discuss the issue of paper leaks on Friday and taking suggestions of the cabinet colleagues, further action would be finalised,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared in an official message outlining the administration’s initiative.
The proposed amendments to the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act seek to establish designated courts to expedite legal proceedings while reviewing penalty structures. Official sources maintained that the draft bill is expected to be introduced in Parliament during the ongoing session to establish enhanced administrative safeguards.
