Sunam, August 1: The state government remains firmly committed to realizing the vision of revolutionary freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives during the national independence movement, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann declared on Friday.
Attending a state-level commemorative event on the 87th martyrdom day of Shaheed Udham Singh at Sunam Udham Singh Wala, Chief Minister Mann paid floral tributes and laid a wreath at the martyr’s memorial. He affirmed that the nation will forever remain indebted to the iconic patriot whose courage continues to serve as a beacon of selfless service for upcoming generations.
“Shaheed Udham Singh made the supreme sacrifice for the freedom of our country,” Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann stated. “It is a matter of immense pride and satisfaction for me to be part of this solemn occasion to pay tribute to this iconic martyr.”
Addressing the assembled gathering, the Chief Minister recalled the historical significance of the revolutionary’s action at Caxton Hall in London, noting that Shaheed Udham Singh brought the primary perpetrator of the Jallianwala Bagh tragedy to justice. He maintained that the martyr’s dedication strengthened the resolve of citizens to achieve a free and egalitarian society focused on the welfare of all sections.
Senior leaders, including party state Prabhari Manish Sisodia and Cabinet Minister Aman Arora, accompanied the Chief Minister at the memorial site. Authorities asserted that public places honoring such national heroes serve as enduring sources of inspiration for visitors from across the country.
