Kyiv, August 18: Ukrainian forces launched an extensive long-range drone offensive targeting the Moscow region and adjacent provinces, marking one of the largest coordinated aerial operations of the conflict. The widespread strikes unfolded as a Russian missile barrage struck the eastern village of Pechenihy in the Kharkiv region, leaving at least 10 civilians dead and eight others injured.

 

“Ukrainian forces staged one of their biggest drone attacks on Russia, firing almost 800 drones overnight across multiple regions,” defense officials stated while describing the scale of the early morning barrage.

 

Air defense units intercepted incoming targets over several administrative districts surrounding the Russian capital, with local authorities reporting localized fires at industrial facilities.

 

“Russian air defenses overnight intercepted 791 Ukrainian drones, including more than 600 directed toward the Moscow region where 180 were shot down,” Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin stated, noting that no fatalities were recorded within city limits.

 

In eastern Ukraine, rescue teams cleared destroyed residential structures following heavy missile impacts. Local authorities confirmed that civilian areas sustained severe infrastructure damage during the attack.

 

“A Russian missile strike on the village of Pechenihy killed 10 civilians and wounded several others as residential homes were demolished,” stated Oleh Syniehubov, head of the Kharkiv regional military administration.

 

Military analysts noted that the simultaneous escalations reflect intensified long-range targeting tactics across both sides of the front line, with international defense monitors continuing to assess the impact on regional civilian infrastructure.
