Lucknow, Sept 11: The Uttar Pradesh government has scaled up flood relief and evacuation measures across 25 affected districts following instructions from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Officials from the Relief Commissioner’s Office affirmed that district administrations are maintaining active surveillance to execute rescue operations, provide medical support, and manage relief camps.
Reports indicate that 8,000 individuals were safely evacuated on Thursday alone, raising the total number of rescued citizens to 21,350. Over 2,385 motorboats and traditional vessels have been deployed to navigate submerged areas, with nearly 3,000 displaced residents currently housed in official relief centers.
To meet essential nutritional needs, the state mechanism has distributed over 9.31 lakh lunch packets and 1.49 lakh dry ration kits to date. On Thursday, authorities dispatched an additional 72,620 lunch packets alongside 9,937 comprehensive flood kits.
Preventative health initiatives remain active across affected zones, with 1,165 medical teams deployed to contain waterborne illnesses. Over 7.22 lakh chlorine tablets and 2.97 lakh ORS packets have been distributed, preventing human or animal casualties so far. Livestock welfare is also being addressed through the distribution of nearly 6,956 quintals of fodder across impacted districts including Ayodhya, Varanasi, Prayagraj, and Lakhimpur Kheri.
