Chandigarh, Sept 13: A significant operational breakthrough against organized crime networks, Punjab Police successfully executed the extradition of fugitive operative Amritpal Singh, alias Amrit Dalam, from the Republic of Moldova on Saturday. The action represents the state police force’s first successful extradition of a criminal suspect from a European nation.
Following a six-month coordination effort dubbed Operation Eastern Reach, a specialized team from the Anti-Gangster Task Force escorted the suspect back to India via Baku, Azerbaijan, landing at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi. Official records state that the individual faces 21 pending cases across the state, including charges related to targeted killings, extortion, and provisions under specialized criminal acts.
Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav maintained that the success of the mission relied on sustained coordination between state specialized units, central government departments, and international judicial authorities. He affirmed that judicial approvals in Moldovan courts finalized the legal process after local appeals were concluded in July.
