Chandigarh: The Punjab Government has constituted a seven-member Coordination Committee to engage in continuous consultation with the panel established by Sri Akal Takht Sahib regarding matters related to the Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Act, 2026. Formed through an order issued by the Department of Home Affairs and Justice, the panel will submit its recommendations and reports on key aspects to the state administration for formal consideration.
The high-level committee comprises prominent religious and legal personalities, including former Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh, Damdami Taksal chief Sant Giani Harnam Singh Khalsa, Sant Baba Sewa Singh of Rampur Khera, retired Justices Jaspal Singh and Gurbir Singh, former PPSC Chairman Jatinder Singh Aulakh, and Law Officer Preet Inder Paul Singh.
Government officials maintained that the panel aims to ensure seamless communication with the supreme Sikh temporal seat. Members stated that their primary mandate involves working closely with the Akal Takht-appointed body to review the provisions of the legislation and present structured feedback to the state leadership.
