Gorakhpur: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will celebrate Diwali with members of the Vantangiya community at Jungle Tikoniya Number Three village in Kusmhi Forest on Sunday, continuing a annual tradition he initiated during his tenure as a Member of Parliament.

Marking the occasion, the Chief Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for 52 development projects valued at ₹82.41 crore. The planned initiatives include an interlocking road providing external connectivity to the village, an eco-park in Kusmhi Forest designed to promote regional tourism, and a Global Nagar Bazaar in Pipraich.

The Vantangiya community, originally settled during the British era under the Taungya forestry system, experienced decades of administrative neglect and lack of citizenship rights following independence. Beginning in 2003, Yogi Adityanath spearheaded efforts to introduce educational and medical facilities to the settlements, later securing revenue village status for 23 Vantangiya habitations across Gorakhpur and Maharajganj during his first term as Chief Minister.

Local residents and district officials have finalized preparations for the visit, which will include the distribution of instructional materials and gifts to children alongside the official launch of civic infrastructure works.
