Gurugram, 12 January 2025: Two sisters, aged 23 and 21, tragically died on Friday after falling from the fourth floor of a businessman’s house in Sector 40, Gurugram, local police said.
While the house owner’s family suspects the women attempted to flee during a theft, the deceased’s family has raised concerns about possible foul play.
The deceased, identified as Chandni and Rashmi, both from Uttar Pradesh, had been living in the servant quarters of the building.
Police reported that Chandni had worked as a domestic help at the house but had left the job a month ago.
According to the house owner, he and his family had planned to visit the Khatu Shyam temple in Rajasthan.
However, they returned after traveling part of the way when he realized he had forgotten his medication.
Upon arriving home, the family found the main door ajar. Moments later, they heard a loud thud. They rushed to the balcony, where they found the sisters lying in a pool of blood below.
Police said the two women were rushed to a nearby hospital, where they were declared dead on arrival.
The family of the house owner speculates that the women may have broken into the house, noting that Chandni was familiar with the access code to the electronic lock.
“The bodies have been handed over to the family after the autopsy,” said Lalit Kumar, SHO of Sector 40 police station.
“We are reviewing CCTV footage from the residence to aid in our investigation.”
