Minister Goyal Unfurls Tricolor in Mohali

SAS Nagar, January 26, 2025: Punjab Mines and Geology Minister Advocate Barinder Kumar Goyal unfurled the National Flag at Shaheed Major Harminderpal Singh (Shaurya Chakra) Government College in Mohali during Republic Day celebrations and reviewed the parade, led by DSP Preet Kanwar Singh, alongside Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain and SSP Deepak Pareek.

In his address, Goyal reiterated the Bhagwant Mann-led government’s commitment to transforming Punjab in line with the Constitution’s true spirit.

He underlined initiatives like merit-based government jobs, Schools of Eminence, and Aam Aadmi Clinics, which reflect the aspirations of freedom fighters and constitutional architects.

The minister announced the planned auction of 100 mining sites under the Punjab Miner Minerals Policy 2023, noting the revenue potential from potash deposits in Punjab’s southern districts.

He also accentuated major irrigation projects, including a ₹2,300 crore canal benefiting Bathinda and neighboring districts, and the re-lining of water sources worth ₹2,100 crore.

Infrastructure upgrades for Mohali include an eight-lane synthetic track, astroturf replacement at an international hockey stadium, and new PU flooring for indoor halls, costing ₹12.32 crore in total. Plans to upgrade ESI dispensaries in Kharar and Derabassi to hospitals with 30 and 100 beds were also revealed.

The event featured cultural performances by 1,500 students, patriotic tributes to veer naris (army martyrs’ widows), and a yoga show by trainers from “CM di Yogshala.” The District Red Cross Society distributed 12 sewing machines to women in need. Forty-eight individuals with exceptional achievements were honored.

Prominent attendees included MLA Kulwant Singh, Chairperson Prabhjot Kaur, Milkfed Chairman Narinder Singh Shergill, and Special DGP (Law and Order) Arpit Shukla.
