Toronto, Sept 15: Canada Border Services Agency officials removed four Indian men from Punjab following their involvement in extortion-related activities and organized crime links. Agency representatives identified the individuals as Palwinder Singh, Jasmer Singh, Amitoz Bajwa, and Sahibjot Singh, who were found inadmissible under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act following rulings by the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada.
Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree maintained that these removals demonstrate the government’s commitment to disrupting extortion and organized crime through targeted law enforcement collaboration. Canada Border Services Agency President Erin O’Gorman affirmed that completing over 100 extortion-linked removals highlights the clear impact of ongoing joint enforcement efforts.
Federal data indicates that 111 individuals have been removed out of 188 nationwide removal orders issued as of early September. Regional enforcement figures show 58 removals in the Pacific region, 30 in the Prairies, and 23 in the Greater Toronto Area. A special bulletin from the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada noted that organized groups frequently exploit financially vulnerable young nationals on study permits to conduct targeted extortion demands against community members.
