Ferozpur, 2 March — Punjab police arrested a gangster and seized three sophisticated firearms allegedly smuggled from across the border, officials said Sunday.
The accused, identified as Hardeep Singh, a resident of Ghall Khurd village in Ferozepur, was apprehended in an intelligence-based operation by Counter Intelligence Ferozepur.
“Counter Intelligence #Ferozepur apprehends smuggler-cum-gangster Hardeep Singh @ Deepa and recovers 3 sophisticated weapons arsenal and narcotics,” Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav posted on X.
The recovered items included a Glock pistol, a Beretta .30 MM pistol, a pump-action gun, 141 assorted cartridges of various calibers, 45 grams of heroin, and a car, he added.
According to preliminary findings, the weapons were trafficked from across the border for terror and criminal activities, the DGP said.
A case has been registered in Fazilka, and further investigation is ongoing, police said.
