Chandigarh, Sept 25: Aam Aadmi Party Punjab Media In-charge Baltej Pannu launched a sharp attack on Shiromani Akali Dal leadership and Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee President Harjinder Singh Dhami over the handling of the Sri Anandpur Sahib sarai controversy. Addressing a press conference in Chandigarh, Pannu questioned the intent behind setting up a four-member probe committee and granting it 15 days to submit its report, alleging the exercise was designed to delay scrutiny and suppress public outrage.
Pannu asserted that appointing junior SGPC officials to the inquiry panel compromised its independence, asking whether subordinate members could impartially question senior figures like SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal or Dhami. He maintained that an objective investigation required independent legal authority, proposing the inclusion of a retired Sikh judge or an experienced police officer. He further questioned why no official signboards had been installed outside religious centers to inform the public about the Panthic expulsion of those named in the matter.
