Chandigarh, Oct 30: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is set to release its first slate of candidates for the 2027 Punjab Vidhan Sabha elections following top-level deliberations in the national capital. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann announced the step after leading a high-level strategy session with AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal and state affairs in-charge Manish Sisodia.

Speaking after the consultations, CM Mann affirmed that primary discussions covered constituency-wise candidate selections across Punjab’s 117 Assembly seats along with core election issues. The candidate list has been submitted to the party’s Political Affairs Committee (PAC), which convenes to formally approve and release the initial names.

The ruling party’s strategy aims to gain an early operational advantage over political opponents by finalizing nominees months ahead of the polls. Senior state leaders, including Punjab AAP President Aman Arora and Finance Minister Harpal Cheema—a member of the PAC—joined the Delhi strategy session via video conference.

Party insiders indicated that the initial list primarily focuses on key constituencies and established leaders to ensure ample time for grassroots voter mobilization. The early announcement underlines AAP’s campaign posture as it seeks to consolidate its electoral position in the state.
