Chandigarh, Jan 22: Punjab Agriculture Minister Gurmeet Singh Khuddian has directed Chief Agriculture Officers to submit progress reports every 15 days to ensure effective implementation of agricultural schemes by the Central and State Governments.
The move aims to identify challenges, enhance transparency, and ensure timely improvements in Punjab’s agricultural sector.
Khuddian, who reviewed projects in seven districts yesterday and met officers from the remaining districts today at Kisan Bhawan, emphasized the importance of achieving targets for seed, pesticide, and fertilizer sampling.
The ongoing quality control campaign has so far collected 5,082 seed, 2,867 pesticide, and 2,473 fertilizer samples against set targets of 6,100, 4,800, and 3,700, respectively.
The Minister revealed that 141 seed samples, 81 pesticide samples, and 78 fertilizer samples failed quality tests, prompting legal action against the responsible dealers and firms.
He stressed that regular reporting will improve accountability and efficiency in serving farmers across Punjab.
Besides, Khuddian instructed officials to ensure proper utilization of funds for agriculture schemes and submit utilization certificates before the financial year ends. The measures aim to streamline operations and provide quality produce and services to farmers.
