Ludhaina, Nov 2: An assistant sub-inspector with the Central Intelligence Agency staff faced suspension and a formal departmental inquiry after hidden camera footage revealed contraband being planted at the residence of a local Shiv Sena leader.

Khanna Senior Superintendent of Police Darpan Ahluwalia declared the immediate suspension of ASI Sukhdev Singh after reviewing video evidence, while also directing the discharge of Shiv Sena leader Mahant Kashmir Giri from police custody.

The sequence of events initiated following the apprehension of Giri’s driver, who was reportedly found with 7.5 grams of heroin. During subsequent police questioning, references were made regarding the leader’s premises near Khatikan Chowk.

Surveillance footage captured the ASI entering the property in plain clothes and placing an object beneath a mattress shortly before a formal raid team arrived to conduct a search. Senior officials reviewed the recording later that evening, leading to the cancellation of the initial proceedings.

SSP Ahluwalia affirmed that a Special Investigation Team headed by a Senior Superintendent-rank officer will examine the role of all personnel associated with the operation.
