Chandigarh, June 16: The ongoing state-wide enforcement operations under the “Yudh Nashean Virudh” initiative achieved a significant breakthrough following the apprehension of a political functionary associated with the opposition. Commenting on the development, Punjab Cabinet Minister Harpal Singh Cheema stated that the incident points toward deep-seated operational links within specific political organizations, transforming what was once external political protection for illicit actors into direct participation by party members.

The senior leader noted that historical data links the initial expansion of contraband networks across the region to the previous joint tenure of the Shiromani Akali Dal and the Bharatiya Janata Party. He affirmed that the current state administration, guided by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann since March 2022, has adopted an uncompromising strategy. This approach includes the incarceration of major distributors, the demolition of properties acquired through illegal trades, and strict judicial processing for any individual involved, completely irrespective of their administrative or political status.

Addressing the broader national framework of supply chains, the Minister raised critical questions regarding entry routes. Harpal Singh Cheema declared that substantial maritime interceptions continue to occur regularly within coastal zones of Gujarat. He asserted that the opposition must clarify how these large-scale shipments pass through western ports before being distributed into northern territories. He maintained that while external networks remain a challenge, local security measures have been enhanced using anti-drone technology along borders alongside expanded medical rehabilitation infrastructure to support community recovery.
