Moga, 20 January 2025: A high-speed canter loaded with wood hit three stationary cars near Lal Singh Road on the Moga side, injuring a car driver and causing significant damage to the vehicles.
Hardeep Singh, one of the car drivers, reported that the vehicles were halted due to a traffic jam when the canter, allegedly driven under the influence of alcohol, failed to brake and rammed into them.
He stated, “The canter’s impact caused severe damage, with tires falling off and seats torn apart.”
The canter driver, Jaskarn Singh, acknowledged that he was traveling from Kotkapura to Moga with a loaded vehicle.
He claimed that while he attempted to apply the brakes, the collision was unavoidable as the cars ahead had already stopped abruptly.
The Special Security Force (SSF) team arrived at the scene promptly to manage traffic and assess the situation.
An SSF officer confirmed that three cars were damaged and the incident had been reported to the local police station for further investigation.
