Chandigarh, July 7 — The Aam Aadmi Party has strongly denounced the recent removal of the film Satluj, which chronicles the life of human rights activist Shaheed Jaswant Singh Khalra, from an online streaming platform. The party described the development as a direct infringement on the public’s right to free expression and historical clarity.

Addressing media professionals during a press conference, senior party representative Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal demanded an immediate reversal of the restriction. He stated that the biographical feature presents a factual narrative of a sensitive period in state history, which administrative authorities are seeking to obscure from public view.

Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal affirmed, “Shaheed Jaswant Singh Khalra fought fearlessly for human rights without caring for his own life and exposed before the world the truth of thousands of innocent youths who were killed in fake police encounters and cremated as unidentified bodies during that period. Banning such a historic film that presents the truth is extremely shameful.”

The spokesperson maintained that previous central administrations bore responsibility for historical excesses in the region. He asserted that a quiet political alignment between traditional rival parties has resulted in the film’s removal to prevent the younger generation from examining past governance failures.

Turning his focus to regional political entities, the representative claimed that certain leadership circles failed to support the activist’s family during their period of struggle. He referenced a recent poignant interview by the activist’s widow, Bibi Paramjit Kaur Khalra, regarding her past appeals for administrative assistance.

Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal declared, “The party that calls itself Panthic abandoned the family of Punjab’s greatest human rights warrior when they needed support the most.” He added that the ruling state administration remains firmly supportive of the family and will continue to oppose any attempts to suppress historical transparency.
