LUCKNOW, January, 3 2025— Chandigarh University (CU), ranked India’s top private university, has announced the launch of its first-ever AI-integrated campus at Unnao, located in the Lucknow State Capital Region (SCR).
The futuristic campus is poised to redefine the educational landscape by offering AI-augmented multidisciplinary education to meet the demands of 21st-century learners starting in the 2025-26 academic year.
The new campus will offer 43 advanced undergraduate and postgraduate programs in fields such as Engineering, Business Administration, Health and Life Sciences, Humanities, Liberal Arts, and Legal Studies.
according to inputs, the move aligns with Uttar Pradesh’s ambitious goal to transform into India’s first AI city, a plan already supported by significant infrastructure investment.
Uttar Pradesh Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay, at a press event held at the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, inaugurated the web portal and prospectus for the university’s new campus.
Upadhyay expressed enthusiasm about the role the AI-integrated campus will play in furthering Uttar Pradesh’s transformation into a technology and educational hub.
“Uttar Pradesh is on track to becoming a USD 1 trillion economy within the next five years,” said Upadhyay.
“The establishment of Chandigarh University’s AI-integrated campus aligns perfectly with our vision for economic and educational growth.”
Upadhyay also noted that this initiative comes at a time when Uttar Pradesh is investing heavily in AI, with the state already establishing India’s first AI City in Lucknow. The project, spanning 70 acres and costing Rs 10,732 crore, is expected to generate 50,000 direct and indirect AI-related job opportunities over the next five years.
Rajya Sabha MP and Chandigarh University Chancellor, Satnam Singh Sandhu, echoed these sentiments, accentuating the importance of AI education for India’s future workforce.
“AI is revolutionizing education worldwide. With the establishment of our AI-integrated campus in Uttar Pradesh, students will receive a world-class education right in their home state,” Sandhu said.
Sandhu also stressed India’s commitment to AI under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, with significant national efforts already underway, including the IndiaAI mission, which aims to drive AI adoption for innovation and job creation.
Mukesh Jain, Executive Vice President of Capgemini, spoke about AI’s potential for job creation. “AI is transforming industries, and India will see significant growth in AI-related jobs. The demand for AI professionals is increasing rapidly, with new opportunities expected to emerge across various sectors.”
In response to rising demand for AI education, Chandigarh University will offer scholarships worth Rs 40 crore through the Chandigarh University Common Entrance Test (CUCET) for the 2025-26 academic session.
Besides, the prestigious Rs 3 crore ‘CV Raman Scholarship’ will support students pursuing scientific research careers.
