Kanauri, 28 January 2025: Jagjit Singh Dallewal, leader of SKM (Non-Political), addressed the media Monday, stating farm unions harbor no personal grievances but differ in opinions and priorities regarding demands. Dallewal, currently recovering under medical treatment, discussed the ongoing unity efforts among farmer organizations.
“The SKM (All-India) leaders visited Khanauri with a unity proposal following the Moga Kisan Mahapanchayat. While differences prevented them from joining the protest at Khanauri, they could have organized a separate demonstration to support the farmers’ cause,” Dallewal said.
“Farmers nationwide demand a legal guarantee on MSP. Unified support from SKM (All-India) would amplify pressure on the government to concede.”
Dallewal mentioned plans to attend a meeting in Chandigarh if his health permits, or to participate virtually if necessary.
“I trust the panel members leading negotiations with government officials,” he added.
The SKM (All-India), which spearheaded the 2020-21 protest against the repealed farm laws, has invited farmer groups demonstrating at the Punjab-Haryana borders for a third round of unity talks on February 12.
The previous two meetings, held on January 13 and 18, were inconclusive.
This meeting precedes critical negotiations scheduled between the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM), SKM (Non-Political), and the Centre on February 14 regarding the farmers’ demands.
