Chandigarh: Punjabi artist Diljit Dosanjh has sparked widespread discussion online following the release of his latest music video, ‘Devil’, with viewers noting strong parallels between its visuals and recent student demonstrations. Part of his project ‘I’m an Artist Bro’, the music video features dramatic depictions of crowds, placards, security personnel, and confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement officers.
The imagery has led fans to draw connections to the student agitation led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar. Viewers pointed out scene elements such as placards reading “Save Our Future” and “Our Future, Our Fight”, as well as a poignant sequence showing a young girl offering a white rose to an officer. Social media users maintained that the attention to detail reflects real-world events, sparking extensive speculation across platforms.
The online commentary comes shortly after Dosanjh addressed questions regarding political demonstrations during a livestream in July. Responding to a fan query regarding the CJP movement, the artist affirmed his preference to stay clear of political affairs, stating that he views himself purely as a performer rather than a political figure.
While the music video avoids explicitly referencing any specific political group or location, the release timing has driven continued fan interpretation. Neither the artist nor his management team has issued a statement regarding the online discussions, allowing the creative work to remain open to audience perception.
