Four Associates of Sekhon Gang Arrested: DGP

CHANDIGARH, February 15 – Punjab Police’s Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) arrested four associates of the Gurpreet Sekhon gang for their involvement in the murder of Overseer Singh, recovering a .32 bore pistol with six cartridges. The arrests align with the state’s ongoing efforts to enhance security under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s directives, said Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav.

The arrested individuals were identified as Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi, Lovejeet Sharma alias Lavi, Vinod Kumar alias Skill Sharma, and Gagandeep Singh—all residents of Bathinda. Police also impounded their white Hyundai Verna, registered as PB 03 BH 7724.

Overseer Singh, a history-sheeter from Bhai Rupa in Bathinda, was shot dead on February 5 at his village in an attack linked to personal enmity. He was rushed to the Civil Hospital Bathinda, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the arrested individuals have a criminal history, with multiple cases including murder and attempted murder registered against them. Police are working to identify other suspects, with more arrests expected, Yadav said.

Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) AGTF Promod Ban stated that the AGTF launched an operation following the murder. Gurpreet Singh and Vinod Kumar were arrested in Dhanaula, Barnala, while Gagandeep Singh and Lovejeet Sharma were apprehended at TPT College, Rampura Phul.

An FIR (No. 11) was registered under sections 125 and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act at Phul Police Station in Bathinda.
