Chandigarh, 15 February 2025: Chandigarh Police have arrested five individuals in separate anti-drug operations, recovering 84.88 grams of heroin, 23.38 grams of cocaine balls, and 13.71 grams of crystal methamphetamine (ice).

The Anti-Narcotics Task Force and the Crime Branch carried out the arrests during two separate operations.

A team led by Inspector Baldev Kumar of the Anti-Narcotics Task Force arrested three men for drug trafficking, seizing 61.14 grams of heroin. The accused were identified as Pardeep Kumar, alias Deepu, 32, of Sector 40-A (25.44g heroin); Anuj, 34, of Sector 56 (15.47g heroin); and Boby, 22, of Bhogpur, Jalandhar (20.23g heroin).

Investigations revealed that Pardeep procured heroin from Anuj and Boby, who sourced it from a supplier named Aman in Amritsar. “Pardeep would sell the drugs in the tricity area for profit,” a police official said.

In another operation, the Crime Branch apprehended two men involved in drug trafficking. Dharmagya Tripathi, 19, of Karnal, Haryana, was caught in Sector 36, Chandigarh, with 13.71 grams of ice. A search of his Zirakpur flat led to the recovery of 30 cocaine balls (15.38g) and 13.77g heroin. His associate, Parshant Murare, 32, also from Karnal, was later arrested, and police seized 18 cocaine balls (8.81g) and 9.97g heroin from him.

Police said the duo purchased drugs at low prices and sold them in the tricity at higher rates. “Crystal meth, commonly known as ice, is a highly addictive stimulant. Overdose can lead to severe health issues, including chest pain, seizures, brain stroke, and even death,” an officer stated.

Both cases remain under investigation, with efforts ongoing to track suppliers.
