New Delhi, April 24: External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met Jens Plotner, Foreign and Security Policy Advisor to German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, in Taipei on Thursday and acknowledged Germany’s support following the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam earlier this week.
“Pleased to meet Foreign and Security Policy Advisor to German Chancellor Jens Plotner today. Appreciate Germany’s expression of solidarity on the recent terrorist attack in India,” Jaishankar wrote on X, adding, “Thank him for his immense contribution to India-Germany ties.”
The meeting came two days after the Pahalgam attack, which left several dead and prompted a strong response from Indian officials and international allies.
Backing the government’s stance, Johann Wadephul, a member of the German Bundestag from the Christian Democratic Union/Christian Social Union (CDU/CSU), condemned the violence. “We strongly denounce the heinous terrorist attacks in Pahalgam,” he said, expressing solidarity with the victims and calling for global cooperation against terrorism.
India has ramped up diplomatic efforts in the wake of the attack, seeking global condemnation of cross-border terrorism and reaffirming ties with strategic partners.
