New Delhi, July 2: Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi received a formal ceremonial welcome and a guard of honour at the Rashtrapati Bhavan forecourt on Thursday, marking the official commencement of her three-day state visit to India. The high-profile visit underscores the intensifying strategic alignment between the two major Asian democracies as they prepare to review bilateral cooperation. During the official reception, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced his cabinet colleagues and key dignitaries to the visiting leader to mark the start of the diplomatic engagements.
The bilateral talks are expected to center on regional security and economic cooperation, with the 15th India-Japan Annual Summit serving as the centerpiece of the itinerary. Prime Minister Modi expressed immense satisfaction regarding the visit, noting the immense potential of the upcoming dialogue.
“A very warm welcome to India, Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi. We are delighted to host you on your first visit to India, and I look forward to our wide-ranging discussions tomorrow that will further deepen the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership,” Prime Minister Modi asserted in a statement. The diplomatic delegation from Tokyo arrived to an enthusiastic reception, signaling strong mutual enthusiasm for the scheduled talks. The Japanese Cabinet Public Relations Officer relayed the administration’s positive outlook regarding the visit in an official communication.

The initial reception began late Wednesday evening when Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, Jitendra Singh, greeted the Japanese leader at the Palam Technical Airport on behalf of the Indian government. Reflecting on the arrival, Minister Singh declared that it was a distinct privilege to receive Her Excellency Sanae Takaichi for a visit that holds profound geopolitical weight for both capitals.
